amidst the traffic
and the drunkards downstairs
there you lay peacefully
enjoying the slumber
that you were deprived of
as i bent to kiss you
you suddenly snored
while i tried to stifle
a laugh
that you may continue to dream on
while i realize how much
and much more that i'll love you
and nothing will change
amidst the occasional snore.
